Rose Bengal Stain
Rose bengal stain is a diagnostic tool used to assess the health of the cornea epithelial cells and conjunctiva. This is particularly useful in cases of eye irritation without a corneal ulcer that are suspected to be caused by feline herpes virus. Rose bengal is a red-purple stain that binds to dead or degenerating epithelial cells and mucus on the surface of the cornea and conjunctiva.
